Read-a-thon: Mid-event Survey

I can’t believe we are more than halfway there! I had a long break because friends came over (i’m actually being rude now as they are still here thankfully being entertained by my housemates) but I’ve been back to reading for the last hour. I felt quite sleepy a while ago but a few doritos and some cranberry juice worked wonders.

I’m reading Notes From a Small Island by Bill Bryson and I actually can’t wait to go back to it because it’s funny and interesting but before that:

Mid-event survey

1. What are you reading right now?
Notes from a Small Island, Bill Bryson
2. How many books have you read so far?
This is my second book.
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
Um, possibly Soulless by Gail Carriger.
4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day?
Not really, since I finished my master’s the weekends (and several days of the week) are generally free.
5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
The Boy came over around hour 3, but he read with me for a bit and then he took a nap so had time to finish my first book. Friends visited a few hours ago but since I have a cold I made my excuses and went to read in my bedroom.
6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
How hungry it makes me. I just can’t stop eating today.
7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
I liked how on twitter the cheerleaders were urged to cheer for people who were maybe getting a bit overlooked earlier. I think that should happen more next time.
8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year?
I would try and complete more mini-challenges or even host one!
9. Are you getting tired yet?
Yes. it’s almost 2 am here so I’m feeling quite sleepy. I’m considering going to bed in a bit and then joining in for the last 4-5 hours of the readathon.
10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered?
I guess not having guests over on the day of the readathon is a good idea…
