Sunday chat

*Hey there! This is going to be a new feature in A bookworm’s life. Every Sunday I’ll do a wrap-up post where I’ll talk about whatever I got up to during the week, bookish and otherwise.*

I woke up on Monday and as I do every single morning I went to check on our “garden” which is basically five pots on the kitchen windowsill. And what a lovely sight to start my week: so many purple and white flowers on our “Love-in-the-mist”. I love this modest little garden; it’s one of my favourite things to use fresh herbs from our pots in cooking.

This is the Open Doors weekend in Oxford, which means that most of the University of Oxford Colleges open their doors to the public and allow access to places that are usually reserved only for students and fellows. So I spent most of Saturday pottering around Oxford colleges and I have to say they are gorgeous!Β It’s all beautiful courtyards and medieval archways and magnificent chapels and grand dining halls. Plus there was the courtyard where a scene in Harry Potter was filmed! I think I’ll do a separate post about it because I have many, many pictures I want to share.

Since it’s September I simply had to do some back-to-school shopping. I love buying stationery, it’s one of my favourite traditions of the season. I think, for me, autumn will forever be a time of new beginnings and of new notebooks and sharpened pencils.

And speaking of new beginnings, I went ahead with something I have been thinking about for a while. Yes, that’s a video of me. It’s still quite awkward, but I think it could be fun! Β Check it out and please let me know what you think.

What did you get up to this week? Do you have anything special to look forward to? I might be going to see the new Anna Karenina film tonight (I just need to convince The Boy to go with me). Are you planning on seeing it?

Nice, an open week in Oxford! I’d love to go and see the colleges. I went to visit an old farmhouse, also on an open day, which I enjoyed.

Nice to see you on video. I an only handle video’s of 2-3 mins max, though, but I watched for a while. You’re very brave to do a video, I still haven’t dared.

Kitchen gardens always look so good, and the times I’ve been able to try fresh produce it’s tasted out of this world. The Open Doors weekend sounds a great idea, I look forward to your photos. I like personal posts included on blogs too, reviews can give you a good idea of a person but hearing about their life otherwise is great. And yep, I have slumps, especially when I’m studying. The amount of books we read as bloggers makes it inevitable I think. Videos are good, I wish I had your confidence to make one!

I need to start an herb garden! Have wanted to for a long time.
This weekend my daughter turns 2! Family will be coming into town and we will be having a part on Saturday. Should be a lot of fun. Lots to do, though.
Thanks for stopping by MariReads and sharing your cleaning regimen. I have always done the big weekend clean, too. Trying to do a little each day so I won’t have to anymore. πŸ™‚
